The tournament takes place on the Legend course, which is a par 72, 6 018 metre Hugh Baiocchi design with narrow fairways surrounded by unforgiving bush and numerous water hazards. “Keeping the ball in play is premium on this course” said South Africa’s James Kingston. “The more aggressive you are off the tee naturally brings more birdie opportunities into play, but you need to know which holes to do it on and when to hold back” said Kingston who is playing in his fifth MCB Tour Championship. Latest edition to the tour and ‘rookie’ Jeev Milkha Singh makes his debut this week. After turning 50 in December, he received a sponsors invite. Having suffered a personal loss during covid he made it public knowledge the loss of both his parents made him reassess his career. Thoughts of giving up golf were very much on his mind however he has chosen to continue his illustrious career in memory of them. “What MCB have done for this event is fantastic the hospitality and service at Constance Belle Mare Plage and the condition of the golf course are great,” said the rookie. No doubt the warmer climate and course conditions will suite Milkha Singh who won the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in 2012. A collective sigh off relieve is notable amongst all the players grateful to be back on tour and on the magical island of Mauritius. With the Order of Merit closely contested as well as rookies like Jeev Milkha Sing making his first appearance on the Legends Tour it promises to be a hotly contested affair.
