Brier slides back 2023-12-09

Markus Brier cannot build on the strong opening round at the Tour Championship in Constance Belle Mare Plage and even slips out of the top 10 at the season fnale of the Legends Tour with a 73 (+1). In contrast to the last tournaments, Markus Brier was cheerful right from the start at the tour fnale in Mauritius, as the only Austrian in the feld hit a deep red 65 (-7) at the start and was only beaten by Michael Jonzon (SWE) by just one shot give way. On Saturday “Maudi” hopes to be able to build on the fantastic frst 18 holes in order to have a say in the title on Sunday. A lot of things on Saturday are no longer reminiscent of the strong opening round, because he corrects a par 3 bogey on the 3rd on the following par 5, but quickly slips back into the plus area. Even after that, a really winning rhythm doesn't set in, as he immediately ruins another birdie on the second short hole on the front nine with the next mistake.

Even after the turn he struggled quite a bit, as his fourth loss of the day on the 12th shows. Only then can he stabilize his game, but he spends a long time chasing after another sense of success in vain. Only on the par 5 fnal hole does he fnally get a birdie, but with 73 (+1) he even slips back to 12th place. If he was only two shots behind the top 10, he would defnitely still be in the top spot in the tour fnale Range.
