Brier with a dream start 2023-12-08

Markus Brier got of to a dream start at the Tour Championship in Mauritius with a 65 (-7) and was fully in contention for victory after the frst 18 holes at Constance Belle Mare Plage. A long and strenuous season on the Legends Tour will come to an end in Mauritius this year for Markus Brier . The 55-year-old Viennese is making one last attempt from 25th place in the interim rankings to give his weakest season so far among the over-50 stars a little more shine at the fnish line. The defending champion in Belle Mare Plage is the Dane Thomas Bjorn . Unlike the last tournaments, Markus Brier has his sights set right from the start, because after an initial birdie on the 1, he also has the two par 5 holes on the front nine well under control and is holding on after just six holes played 3 under par, which puts him in the absolute top feld early on. Even after that, he kept the pace high, grabbed another birdie on the 8th and turned into the back nine only one shot behind the leaders.

Things continue in a similar manner there, because with the next birdies on the 10th, the 12th and the par 5 of the 13th he can even easily cope with a frst bogey on the 11th. Only then does he take it easy, but he doesn't do anything wrong with pars and since he also took a birdie on the par 5 of 18 at the end, he even started the tournament with the bright red 65 (-7), which is what led him to the end even brings the leadership role to his group. At the end of the day, only Michael Jonzon (SWE) is one step better than the Austrian. Leaderboard Tour Championship Share on:
