Baker and da Silva set to battle in Mauritius

The race for the season-long MCB Road to Mauritius rankings title goes right down to the wire this week in Mauritius with Peter Baker and Adilson da Silva, who have won seven times between them this season, fghting it out for supremacy. Baker leads Da Silva by 264.2 points, with 675 points available to the winner. The Brazilian needs to fnish at least alone in 3 or in no more than a four-way tie for 2 to have any chance of topping the standings. Baker knows a top-2 fnish will guarantee he remains at the summit whatever his challenger does. Former Ryder Cup player Baker has three wins this year – a magnifcent seven shot triumph at the Irish Legends, an impressive performance against visiting Champions Tour players at the JCB Championship and victory at the fagship Staysure PGA Seniors Championship. The 56-year-old also has two runners-up fnishes and four more top-7s. “It’s been an absolutely fantastic year for me,” said the former Ryder Cup player. “I didn’t really expect to put myself in the position that I’m in, really. I’ve played the game for a long time, I’m 56 and this is all new to me. It’s brilliant. rd nd
