In 2024, the likes of Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, Peter Baker, Paul Lawrie and Jarmo Sandelin were in attendance. At the press conference the day before the tournament, Montgomerie sat beside Baker and reminisced about the 1993 Ryder Cup at The Belfry. That year their team included the likes of Nick Faldo, Woosnam, Bernhard Langer and swashbuckling Seve Ballesteros. In a similar vein, the final tournament of the season is stacked with Major winners and big names from yesteryear. With a prize purse of $1-million and the calibre of the field, it is an exciting three days, both on and off the course. The week of the tournament is a festival of golf with numerous pro-ams taking place both before and after the tournament. The golf and numerous evening functions allow one to rub shoulders with some of the best players the planet has ever seen.
Anyone who has had the privilege of attending the beach party at the Nedbank Golf Challenge knows what fun it is to have access to players and mingle with them. It is truly a thrilling experience. In 2024, Peter Baker was the winner with impressive rounds of 70, 62 and 78. The Order of Merit was won by Adilson da Silva who although representing Brazil is based in KwaZulu-Natal. If you have had enough of lazing on the lounger, the island has a number day trip offerings. For the ladies, heading to the market to pick out some colourful cashmere scarfs and spices makes for a nice half day outing. If serious shopping is required, then Port Louis is a mere hour’s drive away. On the west side of the island is Casula Park, a massive park for kids with rides, wildlife and a variety of activities to keep you busy throughout the day. The island has numerous national parks to visit, and up in the tea-growing highlands are Grand Bassin Temple and Black River Gorges National Park.

Offshore, Mauritius has excellent deep sea fishing, scuba, snorkelling and other general day trips to surrounding smaller islands. If budget allows, flights along the coast really change your perspective regarding the size and beauty of Mauritius, especially if you get to see the mesmerising waterfall in the south (a coastal reef formation which looks like a waterfall from the air). Having a day out of the hotel makes all the luxury that much more enjoyable upon your return. And return you shall; once Mauritius and Constance get into your blood, they stay. The hotel’s favourite saying is ‘arrive as a guest, depart as a friend’. And as per their tagline ‘True by Nature’ one can expect the same amazing experience and holiday on every return.
